Two additional outdoor chess & checkers tables funded by AARP and Davenport Trust were set up outside the Bath Area Family YMCA in autumn of 2022. Chess and checkers sets are available at the YMCA front desk. Please return for others to enjoy!

Accessory Dwelling Units

AFCLK’s Action Plan Section on Homes includes promoting the production of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) to increase housing choices. In 2022 the Bath City Council unanimously passed an ordinance, to amend the land use code to include ADUs. An ongoing educational campaign funded by AARP helped create videos, a guidebook, and a trifold flyer to empower residents who consider an ADU on their property for a loved one, or a caregiver; to downsize or to rent for a minimum rental period of 90 days. Volunteer Transportation Program (VTP)

The vision for the VTP is to create a network of neighbors driving neighbors throughout the peninsulas and rural communities. AFCLK is currently offering rides through the VTP in the communities of Georgetown and Arrowsic only, but work is underway to introduce it in Phippsburg and other towns.
